How to become an Approved Supplier

All procurement for the Communisis Group is orchestrated centrally through Communisis Sourcing. Based in Leeds, we co-ordinate purchasing strategy as well as actively managing our supplier base to ensure we secure maximum value in all our commercial dealings. Our supplier approval process goes through 5 steps:

Step 2: Reverse Auction

Depending on the area of spend up for review, we will use either normal ‘request for quote’ type tenders or ask suppliers to participate in an E-auction.

For Print work we create lots compiled from hypothetical ‘baskets of goods’.  Every qualified supplier must pitch against other approved suppliers already on the Communisis roster to ensure that their prices will be competitive in our Instant Quote System (IQ).  If so, and provided they sign up to our American Express Purchasing Card, they will be nominated to our IQ team.

Best practice is used throughout this process to ensure that a level playing field exists for all.

An Ariba Platform is used to perform the e auctions, which includes support for the supplier throughout the process.  Full training and technical assistance is on hand during the actual auction.

The winners of the auction submit their final price as quoted and this forms a ceiling price, once in IQ, for that type of work in the future.

The winning suppliers will be nominated to the American Express Purchasing Card Programme and will be developed and managed as part of our Supplier Management Process.
